Hi, for those who don't know me my name is Sarah L. I have been on the Dunwoody cross country team for 4 years and I can not be more excited to be one of the amazing team captains this season. Coming from The Davis Academy, I did not know very many people at Dunwoody, but cross country introduced me to some of my best friends even before freshman year started! I cannot wait to get to know everyone on the team this year as well as being able to create new memories through the season!
I have been running seriously for 4 years and enjoyed every second of it. I have made some of my best friends and memories while running. I ran a marathon sophomore year, which is one of my best memories. Running is hard and when you run with someone you create a special bond between the two of you. This is why the team is so important; you want the best people around you to help you through the hard times. I’m excited to be leading the team this year and hope to see everyone make large improvements and enjoy the team and the running.Sasha
Hi I'm Leighton C. - a fifth year cross country runner, a lifelong racer, and a one time marathoner from Dunwoody, GA. I enjoy long runs and hard workouts, but the thrill of out-sprinting someone edges the two. I have two younger brothers: one that loves running, and one that "loves" running. You'll probably only see me running or working, or on the rare occasion, running to work. In my free time I run or work. The best pre-race song is "Anyway You Want It" by Journey. The best pre-race movie is McFarland USA, and it pairs nicely with a bowl of pasta and two 32 oz bottles of water. These factors, in tandem with summer mileage and a tenacious attitude, are the key building blocks of successful race. If you want a successful season buy into the Dunwoody XC family and trust the process.
I am so excited to be a captain this year! This is my fourth year running cross country and I hope that I can help the team succeed this season. Cross country has introduced me to my best friends and has taught me how to become a better athlete and person. Some of my favorite memories from cross country are pre-meet dinners, the overnight trip, and being on the state team. I am looking forward to being a mentor and leader this season to support other runners the way former captains supported me. I can't wait for this season and all the new memories we will make!
