If you were invited on the overnight trip to Charlotte, North Carolina, payment is now available in the store on this website. Payment is due by Monday, September 14th. September is always a month for Dunwoody XC where we continue to build endurance and strength as we get into the heart of the racing season. This week, the Varsity Wildcats traveled north to Berry College in Rome, GA on Saturday to participate in the Clara Bowl Invitational. This is always an early season highlight for the Wildcats and a challenging test against stiff competition, and this year did not disappoint.
The Varsity girls started off the day with a strong 6th place finish (out of 37 teams) in a very competitive field. Two Wildcats, Ansley Heavern and Samantha Cameron, walked off with coveted 'Elite' T-shirts for their top 20 finishes, and they were helped by teammates Callie Dill and Chloe Thomas, who also had great races. Then it was the boys turn to take on their tough challengers, a tough course, and challenging race conditions. The boys squad continued to gain some much needed race experience and some great performances, finishing 29th out of 40 teams. The boys were led by Jackson Watson, but were also helped by great performances from Sam Mahle, Brandon Shockley, and Brandon Gita. Great job by all racers on Saturday, and thanks to the many parents and fans who made the trek up to cheer on the Wildcats! This Week: Please see below (post on Sept. 3rd) for more detailed information on this week's revised schedule, as well as race lineups for our two meets this week. Here is a quick rundown of the week: Tuesday: DeKalb County Meet #2 at Druid Hills Middle School (Please see race lineup from post on 9/3). The 3 Mile race is at 5:15 PM and the 2 Mile race is at 5:45 PM. No practice for the rest of the team (please get in a 3-5 mile run on your own). Wednesday: Afternoon practice for those racing on Saturday at the Double Dip Invitational (Please see race lineup from post on 9/3). No practice for the rest of the team (please get in a 3 mile recovery run on your own). Thursday: Special morning practice from 6-7 AM for all team members! Friday: Regular morning practice from 6-7 AM for all team members! Saturday: Double Dip Invitational at The Marist School. Please see the race lineup from post on 9/3. We will have more information on this meet, including specific race placements and parking instructions, later this week. There will be NO bus to this meet, so athletes will be responsible for their own transportation. Thanks for your understanding and flexibility during this busy week! Go Wildcats! - Coach Boucher
We will have a longer Coaches' Corner update over the weekend, but we wanted to get out some information before the Labor Day Weekend, since many runners will be racing at the DeKalb County Meet on Tuesday when we return to school.
Race Rosters: Please see the file above for the race rosters for next week (this will also be posted outside of the coaches' rooms on Friday and Tuesday). Most athletes are participating in one meet next week, although there are some that are running two for various reasons, so please check both lists. If you have not been to at least 50% of all practices and/or cannot complete a 3-mile workout, you are not likely to find your name on a racing list. If you have questions about race assignments, please see the coaches' on Friday! Practice Schedule for Week of 9/7: We will have a different practice schedule next week for a variety of reasons (Labor Day, Tuesday meet, Open House on Thursday, etc.). We apologize in advance if this is an inconvenience; please talk to the coaches if you have a conflict! Mon: Labor Day; No practice (All runners - with the exception of those racing at Berry this Saturday - should get in a 3 mile run on their own). Tue: DeKalb County Meet; No official practice for those not participating in meet (All runners should get in a 3-4 mile distance run). Wed: Afternoon practice for those racing at Double Dip on Saturday; no practice for other team members. Thu: Due to Open House and other commitments, practice for all from 6-7 AM. Fri: Normal Friday AM practice (6-7 AM). Sat: Double Dip Invitational. We will have more information on this race in this week's Coaches' Corner. For those not racing at Berry this weekend, use the weekend to rest and recover, but try to get in at least one distance run.
