Wildcats take 8th at STATE!
Congratulations to the Cross Country Teams for outstanding performances at the GHSA AAAAAA State Meet this past weekend in Carrollton, GA. On a hot, humid Georgia November Afternoon, the Wildcats gave it everything they had against some fierce competition. The races started with Max Mo individually competing in the boys race. The spirit of the entire boys team pushed him through the race to finish 20th overall with a time of 17:32. This is the highest individual boys finish at State since 2009. Way to go Max!
The girls race followed and as the day got hotter, the competition got even more fierce. Throughout the two loop course, the runners knew that PR's and times didn't matter - only the head to head battles. As a team, the girls finished 8th place with 223 points. The team was led by Samantha C who finished 6th overall and found a spot on the podium. Anna M and Kelly May S finished 37th and 42nd. They were followed by Emma T (67th), Nina J (79th), Chloe T (85th), and Ahna L (93rd) to round out the team. It was very clear that every runner gave it their all, and had nothing left at the finish. Congratulations on a great finish to a great season!
Thanks to all of our senior runners for all their leadership throughout the season. Many of these athletes have been part of the Dunwoody XC family for 5 years and some even more! They will be missed next season - but remember Once a Wildcat - Always a Wildcat! In addition, thanks so much to our alternates who were ready to step in and race if needbe. Remember that Track Season is right around the corner.
Thanks to the Hensley family for hosting our annual PreState Spaghetti Dinner and the Cameron Family for hosting the Parent Dinner. Likewise, thanks so much to all the fans and parents who traveled to Carrollton to cheer on the runners this weekend. A special thank you to Coach Boucher and Alumni Alex Cameron who rivaled each other for the longest distance traveled to support the Wildcat XC Team.
As always, the coaches would like to thank our Booster Club who does so much to support this team. From making yard signs, to printing up tshirts, to sizing uniforms, to finding last second tents, to hosting Donut Hill, and the list goes on and on. We really appreciate everything you do to make this Wildcat Family so great! A special thank you to Mr Davis and Mrs Collins for everything!
End of the Year Reminders -
The varsity letter list will be posted outside Room 1702 on Monday. Please be sure to go by there to ensure the list is correct. If you believe there to be an error, you must set up a conference with Coach Hendrickson by Friday Nov 10th. After that date, no changes will be made.

Please be sure to mark your calendars for the End of the Season Awards Ceremony on Tues Nov 28th.
Thanks so much to the entire DHS XC Coaching Staff and Team for putting in so much time and energy to make this program the best it can be. Your positive enthusiasm for running and life in general are amazing!
For the last time this season,
We need a few volunteers to help with the end-of-season awards and reception for the Dunwoody High School Cross Country team on Tuesday, Novembe 28th. We need a volunteer or team to select and purchase cake, beverages and paper products for the reception.
Please email email@example.com if you can help. Thank you!
Congratulations to the girls and boys cross-country teams on outstanding results at the region 7-6A meet!
The JV boys and girls teams both finished 7th among the tough competition in region 7-AAAAAA. The boys varsity team turned in one of its best races of the year, finishing 6th in a field of ranked teams. Their average time was 17:29 - one of the lowest average times in the recent history of DHS Cross Country. Strong finishes were also put in by Walter H (25th), Cade L (34th), Abner B (38th), Sasha H (39th), Elijah D (43rd), and Andrew R (47th).
The girls’ varsity team faced ranked competition, as well, and rallied for a 4th place team finish. Nina J (32nd), Emma T (39th), Ahna L (52nd) and Chloe T (53rd) rounded out the scoring for the team. Anybody that has not been out to the race course should plan on making a trip out there this weekend and previewing the course on their own. As always, please see a coach and communicate with them if you have any special needs this week. The top four teams from the varsity races will move on in competition.
There will be NO morning practice on Mon Oct 23rd. Instead we will have a short afternoon practice from 3:45-4:30pm.

Varsity Wildcats Take 1st and 2nd at Dekalb County Championships!!
After the JV teams took 1st and 2nd at the County Championships last week, the Varsity teams were challenged with an almost impossible task. The girls team started off the day racing the 5k race against ferocious competition. Samantha C took first place and was crowned County Champion; followed by Kelly May S in 3rd place and Anna M in 5th place. Nina J took 11th and Chloe T (16th), Ahna L (17th), and Emma T (20th) rounded off the Dunwoody field in a truly team fashion, edging out Lakeside 36 to 44. The tight pack of the Lady Wildcats squad made the difference in this race. The boys followed the girls race in what many called "anybody's race." The field was so packed during the first and second lap, that even the coaches couldn't make sense of the field. During the 3rd lap, the race began to take shape; and daring finishes made the difference in this race. Max Mo finished 3rd overall, followed by Walter H (12th), Cade L (19th), Abner B (21st), Sasha H (22nd), Andrew R (28th) and Jan E (39th). The Lakeside boys finished with 22 points, and the Dunwoody Boys took runner up by a margin of a mere 2 points to an amazing Clarkston team in 3rd place. Again, a reminder of just how important every runner becomes in these championship races. Truly a team effort to bring home these trophies. Thanks to our alternates Megan J, Rachel S, Kate H, Elijah D, Brendon J, and Max Ma for always being ready.
The Wildcats will take a brief hibernation this weekend from racing during Fall Break before resuming next weekend at Coach Wood. All runners should plan on marching in the Homecoming Parade next Thursday October 12th wearing their red XC tshirt. The bus for Coach Wood will leave Sat Oct 14th at 5:40am, and everybody on the championship roster will race. All girls are expected to ride the bus, and may leave after all the girls races with their parents. Boys may arrive later if they ride with their parents.
Race times are
Girls JV Championship 8:00am
Girls Varsity Championship 9:00am
Boys Varsity Gold 12:10pm
Boys JV Gold 1:20pm
JV Wildcats Take 1st and 2nd at the Dekalb County JV Championships
Congratulations to the Dunwoody Boys and Girls JV Cross Country Teams for outstanding performances at the Dekalb County Championships September 28th at Druid Hills Middle School. The girls team started off the day finishing runner up as a team with 54 points to a strong Lakeside team. The girls were led by Claire P (5th), Sarah R (7th), Chelsea E (13th), Marina V (14th), Mary McClean E (15th), Lauren C (19th), and Maya S (28th). Thanks to our alternates, Madison W, Magen P, and Caitlin D for being ready. The boys followed up that race bringing home the championship trophy. The boys finished with 5 in the top 10. Conner R (3rd), Carson B (4th), Matt B (5th), Jack W (8th), Aidan C (10th), Owen G (12th), and Jack A (20th) led to Dunwoody scoring 30 points to win the race. Thanks to our alternates Nick B, Carter M, and Jacob D. Congratulations JV Wildcats! Good Luck to the Varsity Team this Tuesday as they compete in the Dekalb County Varsity Championships.
The Championship Roster was posted today. At this point, anyone not on the championship roster is free to begin training for their other sport. Or they are welcome to continue training with the team with the coaches' permission and knowing they will not have the opportunity to race again this season. If they participate in local 5k races such as the PCMS CV classic, they may NOT wear their DHS uniform.
Likewise, all student athletes should plan on joining the Cross Country Team on October 12th for the Homecoming Parade and later in November for the DHS XC Awards Ceremony.
