Monday: Monday will be normal practice for all from 6-7 AM on the DHS track.
Tuesday: Tuesday is our first DeKalb County Meet. Please check the race roster to see if you are participating in this meet. If you are not participating in this meet, there will be no organized practice on Tuesday, but you should get in a 3 to 4 mile run on your own. If you are participating in this meet, you should be ready to depart on the bus outside of the gym locker room at 3:30 (8th graders should plan to carpool and meet the rest of the team at Druid Hills MS). The 3 Mile race begins at 5:15 PM and the 2 Mile race begins at 5:45 PM. Parents, please be aware that there is a $5.00 admission charge for spectators at all DeKalb County meets at Druid Hills MS. We should arrive home on the bus around 7:00 PM. If you are running Tuesday and do not have a uniform yet, please wear a t-shirt that says "Dunwoody" or "Dunwoody Cross Country" on the front, and please remember to bring your own snacks and water to the meet.
Wednesday: On Wednesday, we will have regular practice for all of those racing on Saturday at the Wesleyan Invitational. There will be no practice on Wednesday except for those racing at the Wesleyan Invitational. All other athletes should do an easy 3-mile recovery run on their own.
Thursday: Thursday we will have a regularly scheduled practice for the whole team in the afternoon. On Thursday evening, from 5-8 PM, we have our annual Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night at the Perimeter Pointe location. Please plan on eating dinner here on Thursday, as we receive a portion of all sales during these hours, and it is a great team bonding and fundraising activity. Please make sure to tell your server that you are supporting Dunwoody Cross Country when you make your order!
Friday: Friday will be normal practice for all from 6-7 AM on the DHS track.
Saturday: Saturday is the Wesleyan Invitational at The Wesleyan School in Norcross, GA. We will send out more information on race times later this week (please consult race roster above for those that will be racing at this meet); however it is important to note that there is NO BUS to this meet, so athletes will be responsible for getting to the meet on time (to be announced later this week) and getting home from the meet.
While racing begins and Fall is getting closer, it is still very hot out during our afternoon practices and it is essential that all athletes eat a proper breakfast and lunch and stay properly hydrated throughout the day. Not only is this for your health and safety, it will lead to higher quality workouts, which lead to faster race times!
We're excited to start seeing our hard work pay off in real races this week, and we hope to see many supporters at both races!
Go Wildcats!
