Congratulations to the girls cross country team for an amazing finish at the State Meet in Carrollton, GA. The girls team finished 5th overall in AAAAAA in an extremely competitive race. The team was led by Samantha C who made the podium finishing 10th overall. She was followed by Kelly May S, Anna M, Emma S, Julia E, Ally W, and Chloe T for a point total of 153 points and a team average time of 21:22. The Wildcats had outstanding races and “emptied their tank” in this incredible finish to the season in their new division. It’s a tough division when the #2-5 teams in state come from your region! Special thanks to our alternate KC W for being ready to race at moment’s notice, and the rest of the team for their cheering and support throughout the race. The team would also like to thank all the parents for making the trek to Carrollton and supporting the Wildcats throughout the season. Thanks to the Cameron family for hosting the Parent Pre Race Dinner and Donut Hill, as well as the Dill family for hosting the Athlete Pre Race Dinner. A shout out to our special guest – Coach Boucher – who ran all the way from Texas to cheer on the team! Our success as a program would not be possible without all of your help.
Please make plans to attend the Wildcat Cross Country Awards Ceremony on Thursday November 17th at 7pm in the DHS Auditorium. Varsity Letters will be handed out, along with many other recognitions – and of course the 2016 XC Video. The list of varsity letter winners will be posted outside of room 1702. All students should check the list BEFORE the Awards Ceremony to ensure all information is complete and accurate. If you feel there is an error, you must set up a conference with Coach Hendrickson BEFORE November 11th.
Good luck to all the student-athletes that are racing at Meet of Champions, Foot Locker, and the Half-Marathon in the upcoming weeks. Everybody else should take 2 weeks off to recover from the season before starting their long distance base again. We hope you join us in the spring for Track and Field. Until then, Happy Running!
GO WILDCATS!!!!
