The Wildcats left it all on the course at the Region Championships held at Webb Bridge Park this past Tuesday. In one of the toughest regions in the state 7-AAAAAA, the Wildcats battled it out on the challenging course against amazing competition. Every runner left it out on the course and gave it their all in an effort to qualify and move on. Unfortunately, the competition was just too tough this year, and the Wildcats finished their season at Region. Top Ten finishes were had by Emma P who finished 2nd in the CoEd Open Race and Anna M who finished 7th in the Varsity Girls Race. The Varsity Boys team finished 8th overall and the Varsity Girls team finished 5th overall. Official results can be found at
http://ga.milesplit.com/meets/321580/results#.W8-LXdJKi1s The coaches would like to thank all of our student-athletes this season who have worked so hard to be the best runners they can be, but also do it in such a way that truly showcases Wildcat Pride. Day in and day out, you come to practice willing to put in the miles and the repeats, all the while encouraging each other to get better. Thank you to all of our seniors, who have been with us for the past four and five years - establishing a tradition of lifelong running. The coaches would also like to thank Mrs Herod, Etheridge, and Tessler who provided lunch for the team after today's races - as well as all the parents that came out to support and cheer on the runners. All runners should join us Wednesday October 24th for our annual Halloween Spooky Run. Also, plan on walking in the Homecoming Parade on Thursday October 25th in your Waffle House XC T-shirt. Don't forget about the XC Awards Ceremony on Thursday November 15th at 6pm in the DHS Auditorium. Go Wildcats! The 2018 XC season is coming to a close, and there is a chill in the air. To keep you warm, we have some cold weather spirit wear available if you did not get to order it earlier!
You can still purchase hoodies, pj pants, and blankets. Please email Jana: [email protected] or Karen: [email protected] if interested. On an absolutely perfect racing day, the Wildcats ran away to some of their best times of the season. Thanks to cooler weather, a super fast course, and plenty of sleep the night before, many runners dropped a minute off their best 5k time - some even more! Congratulations to Walter H who had a goal of running a sub 17 minute 5k and accomplished the feat on Saturday. Also congratulations to Team Scissorhands who won a grueling Trivia Match on Friday night. Thanks to everyone who made the Overnight Trip happen this year. A special thank you to the Herods that made all the reservations and ensured that every detail was taken care of. Thank you to the Etheridge family that made gluten free deserts for us. Thank you to Pedro, our bus driver, who found a way through the narrow streets of Whitesburg, GA. Thank you to Coach Cameron for bringing XC Trivia into the 21st Century. And thank you to all the runners and coaches that made the trip so much fun and successful. Official results from the race can be found at
