One last Coach's Corner to finish off the 2021 XC Season.
Congratulations to the Girls Wildcat Running Club that was invited to the Meet of Champions this past Saturday. The runners flew through the course, and finished 6th as a team against the best runners in the State of Georgia all classification. It is a HUGE honor to be invited and congratulations to all on fantastic races. Complete results can be found at GA HS Meet of Champions - Invited Races 2021 - Girls 5k (milesplit.com) The coaches would like to thank all our runners that made the season one of the best ever. Your dedication and sacrifices to Dunwoody XC have made this program so outstanding. Our senior runners have led with positive inspiration at every practice, meet, and beyond. You will be greatly missed next season. Juniors - be ready to lead the team next season. 8th Graders - we can't wait to see you at DHS next year. And Freshman and Sophomores - review your training logs to be ready next season. Thanks to all of our parents for your continued support of DHS XC - always being there to help in whatever way is needed to help the program - even when it's last second. Please consider helping to fill the vacant roles in the Booster Club Board next season. And finally, thanks to all of our coaches that truly work a second job everyday to make this program possible. I may be biased, but all of you (runners, parents, and coaches) are truly the best ever in helping all of us enjoy running as a lifelong sport. Thank you to everyone that worked so hard behind the scenes in planning our Outdoor Banquet this season. It was amazing! Congratulations to all of our runners on a fantastic season. We hope you were able to meet all your goals that you set at the beginning of the season. Think about all you've accomplished this season - and let's make next season even better. We highly encourage you to grow your athletic strengths through other sports at DHS - swimming, track, soccer, lacrosse, basketball, etc. Whatever it may be, continue to be involved and always do your best in everything you pursue. Until next season.... GO WILDCATS!!! On Wednesday, November 10 we will celebrate our wonderful XC season! Arrive at 6:00 pm for dinner. Awards and slideshow will take place after dinner. You will probably want to dress warmly and bring jackets, hats, gloves, and maybe a blanket. Bring some camping/sport chairs to be comfortable while watching the slideshow. We are meeting in the covered picnic area past the skate park. There is parking across from the picnic area. See you on Wednesday!
Wow!! What a day of racing yesterday at the GHSA State Championship Races in Carrollton, GA. The weather was absolutely perfect, the course was in great condition, and all the racers were peaked and hyped to take on the best in Georgia! For the first time in over 5 years, Dunwoody was represented at the State Meet with both a boys and a girls team!
The boys led the way with their race at 12:30pm after a breakfast described as the best bagels ever eaten! Ethan A led the way finishing 45th overall. Not far behind was Wade P (114), Mark W (133), Jude W (147), Jacob E (149), Richard R and Jaxon J. Overall the boys team finished 20th in State! The girls were next with Claire S (15) Lucy N (33), Kate B (46), Maggie C (61), Ronnie A (69), Emma P, and Jenna M leading the charge. The girls teams finished 9th in State! It was a full team effort with every runner giving it their all and emptying the tank as they crossed the finish line. The team would like to thank Mr Blake for making the trip to support the team. Also spotted were alumni Danielle A and Ahna L cheering on the Wildcats. Thanks to all the parents for all their support at the meet and throughout the entire season. Amazing signs were put in the runner's yards by the Archibald Family. The Parker Family provided the best bagels ever for breakfast. Chicken Biscuits were handed out by the Remigailo, Neumann, and Quinn Family. Our newest four-legged Coach Rosie was hyped up for the team. And everyone that has supported the team throughout the season - THANK YOU!!! We are excited to celebrate the achievements of the XC Team this Wednesday at the XC Banquet. In preparation for the banquet, the Varsity Letter List will be posted in room 1702 Monday afternoon. Please stop by to ensure the accuracy of this list prior to the banquet. If you believe there is an error, please talk to Coach Hendrickson Monday. Go Wildcats!!! Due to no school on Friday November 5th, Race Prep Practice has been moved to 7:00am. Go Wildcats!
