Our runners put on at the Varsity County Championships last Tuesday!
Boys: 2nd 83 Points!
Girls: 2nd 52 Points!
We could not be prouder of our runners last week and their amazing performance in a very competitive county. These races were barn burners! Let's get the recap:
Our girls were led by Claire Shelton who once again was crowned County Champion! Behind her were Ronnie Amrani and Abby Reams who placed in the top 10! Hannah Litvak, Chloe Warren, Jenna McJunkin, and Julia Lovell all placed in the top 26 runners to round out our team! Our fearless ladies held off Lakeside High by a point to secure 2nd place - only 3 points behind 1st! A clutch move by Jenna McJunkin to beat the Viking next to her was the key to this victory! Congratulations girls!
Leading the boys were Oliver Abbot, Alex Loffredio, Jude Wright, Parks Rohletter and Andrew Halligan who all secured a top 21 place! It was tied up after 5 runners between your Dunwoody Wildcats and the Chamblee Bulldogs when Jackson Bacon flew down the shoot - beating his bulldog counterpart by 3 seconds to secure the tiebreaking victory! Rounding out the boys team was Kevin Westrick who beat 3 Lakeside runners to hold the Vikings at bay. Congratulations boys!
After a great couple weeks of races, I hope everyone is having a restful and enjoyable fall break!
On Saturday, some brave wildcats turned mountaineers made the ascent up Kennesaw Mountain! Great climb everyone!
This Friday, our team will be travelling to Huntsville, Alabama to compete in the Randolph Invitational. After practice on Tuesday, every runner attending will get a handout that will answer all of your questions. The same handout will subsequently be posted to XC News for anyone who misses practice!
Unfortunately, I am still missing a handful of overnight forms - the packet that was handed out at practice last week. Runners, if you have not turned in your form, the absolute last opportunity to turn it in is by 3:20pm on Tuesday. I must turn them in before the end of the day on Tuesday to get your attendance approved. If you fail to turn it in by then, or turn in an incomplete form, the county will not let you check out of school early on Friday.
I hope everyone is looking forward to the trip! It is going to be much fun!
Reminder that we will have practice tomorrow at the DHS track at 3:40pm.
Otherwise, have a restful conclusion to your fall break!
Go Wildcats!!
