Some members of the Cross Country Team are planning on meeting at the DHS Track at 8:00am on Saturday April 15th for a very slow, easy run through Dunwoody. Please join us if you'd like.
Phineas Haq: Once a Wildcat; Always a Wildcat.
It is with great sadness that Phineas Haq – a sophomore at DHS has passed away.
Phineas was a member of the Cross Country and Track and Field Teams at DHS, and loved the sport with so much passion. He ran the 5k, 800m, 1600m, 3200m, 4x400, 4x800, Pole Vault, and any other event that was asked of him. Phineas won the Team Beast Award last November, and that is exactly who he was. Phineas was that athlete that showed up early and stayed late. He worked hard every summer and winter off-season so he would be ready. Phineas never missed a practice – and his excitement for the team was contagious. He was the student that everyone wanted to teach, the athlete that everyone wanted to coach, and the person that everyone could rely on. Phineas will be missed greatly, and will forever be a part of the Dunwoody Cross Country Family.
Funeral Services for Phineas will be held on Saturday April 15th at 1:00pm at Dunwoody United Methodist Church.
DUMC Youth will also host a gathering to remember Phineas on Sunday April 9th from 6:30pm -7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to:
The Phineas Haq Memorial Fund
Dunwoody United Methodist Church
1548 Mt. Vernon Road
Dunwoody, GA 30338

Wildcats Finish 5th at State!!!
Congratulations to the girls cross country team for an amazing finish at the State Meet in Carrollton, GA. The girls team finished 5th overall in AAAAAA in an extremely competitive race. The team was led by Samantha C who made the podium finishing 10th overall. She was followed by Kelly May S, Anna M, Emma S, Julia E, Ally W, and Chloe T for a point total of 153 points and a team average time of 21:22. The Wildcats had outstanding races and “emptied their tank” in this incredible finish to the season in their new division. It’s a tough division when the #2-5 teams in state come from your region! Special thanks to our alternate KC W for being ready to race at moment’s notice, and the rest of the team for their cheering and support throughout the race. The team would also like to thank all the parents for making the trek to Carrollton and supporting the Wildcats throughout the season. Thanks to the Cameron family for hosting the Parent Pre Race Dinner and Donut Hill, as well as the Dill family for hosting the Athlete Pre Race Dinner. A shout out to our special guest – Coach Boucher – who ran all the way from Texas to cheer on the team! Our success as a program would not be possible without all of your help.
Please make plans to attend the Wildcat Cross Country Awards Ceremony on Thursday November 17th at 7pm in the DHS Auditorium. Varsity Letters will be handed out, along with many other recognitions – and of course the 2016 XC Video. The list of varsity letter winners will be posted outside of room 1702. All students should check the list BEFORE the Awards Ceremony to ensure all information is complete and accurate. If you feel there is an error, you must set up a conference with Coach Hendrickson BEFORE November 11th.
Good luck to all the student-athletes that are racing at Meet of Champions, Foot Locker, and the Half-Marathon in the upcoming weeks. Everybody else should take 2 weeks off to recover from the season before starting their long distance base again. We hope you join us in the spring for Track and Field. Until then, Happy Running!
Lady Wildcats Survive Region 7-AAAAAA and Advance to State Meet
Congratulations to the Lady Wildcats for surviving Region 7-AAAAAA and advancing to the state meet. The varsity team finished 3rd in their race led by Samantha C, Julia E, Emma S, Kelly May S, and Ally W. Samantha C finished 1st in the race and Julia E took 14th – both bringing home medals for the Wildcats. It was truly a team effort for the Wildcats to advance to state as the 1st – 5th teams were separated by a mere 14 points – one of the closest region races ever contested. Strong runs by Emma S, Kelly May S, Ally W, Anna M, and Chloe T made sure the season continued. The JV Girls also finished 3rd in their race as KC W took 1st place overall followed by Oliva V, Ashley A, Ellie C, and Megan J.
The boys’ varsity team ran a gutsy race finishing 8th overall in the region against some of the best teams in the state. They were led by Max M (10th overall), Phineas H, Walter H, Jackson W, Cade L, Leighton C, and Sasha H. The JV boys finished 7th overall led by Andrew R. Congratulations to Vikrant B who finished 2nd overall in the Open Race. The boys should take 2 weeks off running to completely rest their bodies before starting their training for next season.

The coaches would like to thank all of the student-athletes, (especially our seniors) who have worked so hard this season to make Wildcat Cross Country the best it can be. We appreciate your dedication to the team and more importantly your ability to make running so much fun! Thanks for all you do!
There will be no Friday morning practice on 10/28. Instead, we'll meet the girls on Saturday 10/29 at Blackburn Park from 8am to 9:30am for a simulated Carrollton workout.
The State Meet will be contested on November 5th at Carrollton Elementary School. The girls race at 11:45am. Also, please put Thursday November 17th at 7pm on your calendar for our Awards Ceremony in the DHS Auditorium. You’ll have plenty of time after the Powder Puff Football Game to get ready.
We need a few good volunteers to help with the end-of-season awards and reception for the Dunwoody High School Cross Country team on Thursday, November 17th. (NOTE: NEW DATE)
Senior gifts: We need a volunteer or team to select and order gifts for our graduating seniors. You can choose the same gift from years past, or select something new. The gifts should be here by November 14th.
Reception food and beverages: We need a volunteer or team to select and purchase cake, beverages and paper products for the reception.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you can help. Thank you!
Wildcats Tackle Coach Wood Invitational
Congratulations to the Wildcat Cross Country Team for outstanding performances this past weekend at the Coach Wood Invite. The girls team started off the day, by setting up camp in the pitch dark – realizing that the college had paved Wildcat Paradise and put up a parking lot. Fortunately, Woody and Willard prowled through the jungle grasses to find a nice plot to call home.
Perfect racing conditions throughout the day led the JV girls to a 14th place finish in the JV Championship Race led by Ahna L, Callie D, Megan J, Julie H, and Yarden T. The Varsity Girls finished 16th in the Championship race led by Samantha C, Emma S, Anna M, Ally W, and Julia E. The JV boys finished 11th in the Cardinal Race led by Jan E, Brandon S, Brian W, Abner B, and Noah C. The day came to a close as the Varsity Boys raced the Cardinal Race bringing home the 3rd place trophy. The boys were led by Max M, Phineas H, Cade L, Walter H, and Leighton C. Congratulations to all the racers; and a special thanks to all the parents that made the trip to cheer on the Wildcats.
