Last Week:
The Wildcats had a busy week, highlighted by our third DeKalb County meet on Tuesday, our annual "Pace Poker" competition on Thursday, and the Darlington XC Festival on Saturday.
Last Week: On Tuesday, many of the Wildcats participated in the third DeKalb County meet at Druid Hills MS. In the three mile race, great races were turned in Ian Kelley, Katie Luquire, and Alex Parrish. In the two mile race, the Wildcats saw fast races from Ben Bass and Troy Anders on the boys side and Lauren Caplan and Ellie Canalichio on the girls side. Times for this race have been posted in the "XC News" section of the website. On Wednesday, we awarded several more Runners of the Week with the coveted t-shirt. Congratulations to Jack Martin, Ben Planer, Andrea Carrasquilla, and Cassidy Drew, along with 8th grader of the week, Brian Weinshenker. On Saturday, the Wildcats traveled to Rome, GA for the 11th Darlington XC Festival at the Darlington School. This was a new race for the Wildcats, and we were greeted with a quick course and ideal race conditions, and many of the Wildcats took advantage of it by posting season best times. The Girls JV team finished 3rd out of 11 teams, and were led by great performances from Julie Hensley and Frances Abele. The Boys JV team finished 9th out of 15 teams, highlighted by great races from Max Noto and Sam Lucius. The Girls Varsity team toed the line against some of the best teams in the state, and responded by finishing 3rd out of 20 teams, with three top 20 individual performances, led by Kelly May Sheehan, who broke 20 minutes while finishing fourth. Shanel Stewart helped out the Varsity squad with her best race of the year. The Boys Varsity team rounded out the day by surprising some of their competition and finishing 9th out of 26 teams, and were led by strong races from Jackson Watson and Gerardo Romero. Great job by all of the Wildcats! Full race results from Saturday can be found here. This Week: The Wildcats do not race next weekend, but it is still a busy week ahead. On Thursday, some of the younger Wildcats will represent DHS in the DeKalb County Junior Varsity Championships at Druid Hills Middle School (see race rosters below). The Wildcats have a strong tradition in this meet, so we hope to see a lot of support for our 8th-10th grade racers! Because of the JV County Championships on Thursday, there will be no practice on Thursday. Additionally, there will be no Friday practice (morning or afternoon) this week. We will be holding a Varsity practice on Saturday morning that will be off-campus. Time and location will be announced later in the week. Race Lineups for JV County Championships: Congratulations to the following individuals, who will be representing Dunwoody at Thursday's JV County Championship at Druid Hills Middle School. This race is only open to 8th-10th graders, and will be two miles in length. Boys Team: Ethan Herod, Brandon Shockley, Ben Bass, Ben Planer, Troy Anders, Jonathan Polston, and Ethan Rudnicki.
