Believe it or not, racing season is upon us. After a few weeks of practice, the Wildcats are ready to pounce on the course this upcoming week at the County Meet #1 on Tuesday at Druid Hills Middle School and the Wesleyan Invite on Saturday. Students were told which race they were running this morning at practice, and the list is attached. The coaches are excited to see the Wildcats race in these early season meets.
We will have 2 buses for the County Meet #1 which is held at Druid HIlls Middle School. The buses will leave from the DHS gym at 3:30pm. Students (except 8th graders) are required to ride the bus from school, but they may leave the race with a parent only after our final team stretch and team meeting. Students should change into their uniform before leaving school, as there are only portajohns at the race site. Anything worn under the uniform must be solid black. In addition, no jewelry, earrings, necklaces, etc are permitted during the race. Only normal (non-GPS) watches are permitted. Once we get to the race site, cell phones are not allowed to be used by athletes. Students should be sure to bring any water, gatorade, or snacks they might need for the duration of the race. There is a 3 mile race at 5:15pm and a 2 mile race at 5:45pm. All 9-12th graders will run the 3 mile race, and the 8th graders will run the 2 mile race; unless a coach has specified otherwise. 8th graders are welcome to the ride the bus, or should be driven to the course by their parents.
There will be no bus for the Wesleyan Invite, and parents should drive students to the race course. Boys varsity should arrive by 7:30am while all other students competing should arrive by 8:00am.
If you have any questions, please just ask a coach.
Go Wildcats!!!!
