Way to go Wildcats! We now look forward to two meets coming up next week:
Dekalb County Meet #5: Druid Hills Middle School on 9/20. All runners will be competing in this meet. Again, we have been told to not expect county transportation to this meet. If a runner needs a ride, send an email to Coach Chriszt at [email protected] and please let me know if the runner will need a ride back to Dunwoody High School at the conclusion of the meet.
Wingfoot Invitational: Cartersville, GA on 9/24. The top Varsity and JV runners will be competing in this meet. The roster will be announced at practice on Wednesday and subsequently posted on the Website under XC News. We will have county transportation to this meet. The bus will be leaving Dunwoody High School at 5:30am Saturday morning.
Important note to parents and athletes: Part of being on a team is riding with the team to and from competitions. Unless you have informed Coach Chriszt via email (not verbally) otherwise by the Thursday before a Saturday competition with a valid excuse, the runner is expected to ride the bus back to the school after the meet. Telling a coach the morning of a meet, especially at the competition itself, that you are taking your child home/riding with your parents home, is not an acceptable method of communication or being a teammate. Over half of the team did not ride back on the bus at Warpath and a vast majority of parents/athletes did not let Coach Chriszt know until the day of the meet or did not let Coach Chriszt know at all. That is unacceptable behavior for a team. Any further failure to abide by this measure will result in BOTH suspension from all competitions for at least a week and a loss of Good Standing on the team. For more information, refer to the contract: sections Meet Protocol - Part 1 and Good Standing Definition: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1E49sGqRwNlGWG5EX_HkC28ugSWPRTvbw76uj5bc57BY/edit?usp=sharing
Thank you to all athletes and parents who either rode the bus back or let Coach Chriszt know before the meet.
Thursday practice information:
This Thursday, Sep. 22nd, the Cross Country team will be participating in the Homecoming parade after school. All runners are expected to attend and walk in the parade wearing their team t-shirt (the top-run shirt).
This being the case, Thursday practice will be held at 6:00am-7:00am before school. Last year, ~95% of the team did not attend the scheduled practice after the parade. So, we will hold it in the morning. Failure to attend this practice will result in removal from the Wingfoot Invitational roster.
Championship Season Information:
Please see a coach if you have any questions.
Following our final County Meet (9/20), we will announce our “Championship Season” runners. This will be approximately 20 members from each gender who will be eligible to participate in our remaining Championship races, including the JV and Varsity DeKalb County Championships and the Region Championships. Upon the announcement of the “Championship Season” members, the rest of the team members are welcome to attend practice, however it is not expected or mandatory.
This year, our new region has opted for an unlimited-entries JV race. Runners who continue to consistently attend practice and contribute to the team, but are not on the Championship roster, will run at the Region championship on October 22nd.
Go Wildcats!
