The Dunwoody Wildcats chased down and caught up to the hares this weekend at their annual overnight trip to Charlotte, NC to race in the Hares and Hounds Invitational. Instead of CarPool Karaoke, the Wildcats invented a new version – BusRide Karaoke that would make every parent proud. Who knew the runners were not just talented athletes, but also talented singers; although some would disagree on the latter. After we ate the hotel out of every possible pasta option they could find, the night ended with our annual game of trivia. Every category was tested and debated including the Olympics, DHS XC History, DHS XC Coaches, and of course our newest category – Art History and Appreciation. Results are still being reviewed and an eventual winner will be crowned once we review the security cameras to see just how many cell phones were used in coming up with the obscure answers.
While talented singers may still be in debate, the DHS Wildcats are definitely talented runners! The Wildcats took on a challenging field of athletes at historic McAlpine Park under some perfect racing conditions. The Varsity teams competed in both the Championship and Invitational Races finishing 9th and 6th on the girl’s side and 14th and 15th on the boy’s side. The JV teams competed in the Open Races finishing 21st for the boys and 11th for the girls. Tote Tube winners were Samantha C and Walter H; while the Firehouse Hat Award Winners were Anahi P and Sasha H. Thank you to every runner involved on the trip for showing North Carolina Wilcat Pride – especially Sawyer M who went above and beyond.
Thank you to our master planner Don D – who made the overnight trip possible and perfect in every way! Also, thank you to our other chaperones Kevin C and Deb C. Without all of you, this trip would not be possible. Finally, a huge thank you to all our Wildcat Fans that made the long drive to help cheer on the Running Wildcats. Thanks for all your support of Wildcat Cross Country. Full meet results can be found at http://nc.milesplit.com/meets/222817/results#.V968cmgrLIU
