Congratulations to the Cross Country Teams for outstanding performances at the GHSA AAAAAA State Meet this past weekend in Carrollton, GA. On a hot, humid Georgia November Afternoon, the Wildcats gave it everything they had against some fierce competition. The races started with Max Mo individually competing in the boys race. The spirit of the entire boys team pushed him through the race to finish 20th overall with a time of 17:32. This is the highest individual boys finish at State since 2009. Way to go Max!
The girls race followed and as the day got hotter, the competition got even more fierce. Throughout the two loop course, the runners knew that PR's and times didn't matter - only the head to head battles. As a team, the girls finished 8th place with 223 points. The team was led by Samantha C who finished 6th overall and found a spot on the podium. Anna M and Kelly May S finished 37th and 42nd. They were followed by Emma T (67th), Nina J (79th), Chloe T (85th), and Ahna L (93rd) to round out the team. It was very clear that every runner gave it their all, and had nothing left at the finish. Congratulations on a great finish to a great season!
Thanks to all of our senior runners for all their leadership throughout the season. Many of these athletes have been part of the Dunwoody XC family for 5 years and some even more! They will be missed next season - but remember Once a Wildcat - Always a Wildcat! In addition, thanks so much to our alternates who were ready to step in and race if needbe. Remember that Track Season is right around the corner.
Thanks to the Hensley family for hosting our annual PreState Spaghetti Dinner and the Cameron Family for hosting the Parent Dinner. Likewise, thanks so much to all the fans and parents who traveled to Carrollton to cheer on the runners this weekend. A special thank you to Coach Boucher and Alumni Alex Cameron who rivaled each other for the longest distance traveled to support the Wildcat XC Team.
As always, the coaches would like to thank our Booster Club who does so much to support this team. From making yard signs, to printing up tshirts, to sizing uniforms, to finding last second tents, to hosting Donut Hill, and the list goes on and on. We really appreciate everything you do to make this Wildcat Family so great! A special thank you to Mr Davis and Mrs Collins for everything!
